The 2026 MotoGP calendar will bring significant changes, confirming a 22-round season and a significant return. After more than twenty years, Brazil will once again host a Grand Prix at the Ayrton Senna Circuit in Goiânia on the weekend of March 20-22. Brazil will therefore ensure its presence in South America, while Argentina will be removed from the calendar, scheduled to return only in 2027 and moved to Buenos Aires. The Indian GP will also be absent, out at least until 2027 for organizational reasons. The first part of the season will focus on Asia and the Americas before the European debut in Jerez. The European calendar also features significant changes: Balaton Park and Brno have been moved forward to June and will take place before Germany and Assen, while Silverstone returns to August after the summer break, and the Red Bull Ring has been postponed to September. Triple headers have been eliminated, replaced by back-to-back two-race series with better-distributed breaks, including a long three-week break after the Sachsenring. The second half of the season will follow a logical progression, with visits to Japan, Indonesia, Australia, and Malaysia before concluding in Portimão and Valencia. Dorna’s decision has been met with interest but also with criticism: while the longer break and logistical balance are appreciated, the high number of races and the loss of two rounds in key markets such as Argentina and India are not everyone’s cup of tea. Many observers point out that Brazil’s return could invigorate the season, but it remains to be seen whether the new setup will bring benefits or risk saturating an already busy calendar.
