Aprilia Racing turned Le Mans into a historic page in MotoGP. At the 2026 French Grand Prix, the Noale-based manufacturer claimed an unprecedented triple podium: Jorge Martin first, Marco Bezzecchi second and Ai Ogura third with Trackhouse Aprilia. It was a perfect Sunday, built on speed, race management and maturity, confirming once and for all the major step forward made by the Aprilia project.
Martin delivered a champion’s race. Starting from seventh on the grid, he did not produce the explosive launch seen in the Sprint, but he built his victory lap after lap, staying calm in traffic and raising the pace in the second half of the race. The decisive move on Bezzecchi came with three laps remaining, after a methodical comeback that finally broke the resistance of his fellow Aprilia rider. For the Spaniard, it was a long-awaited return to victory in MotoGP and a hugely important result for the championship battle.
Bezzecchi, for his part, produced an extremely solid performance. He made a strong start, took the lead in the early stages and controlled the race with great authority for a long time. In the final laps he had to surrender to Martin’s pace, but second place still allowed him to keep the championship lead. After Le Mans, he remains ahead with 128 points, just one more than Martin on 127.
The final touch came from Ai Ogura. The Japanese rider completed the podium with a strong and mature ride, bringing Trackhouse Aprilia to third place and giving the Venetian manufacturer total domination. His result also carries huge symbolic value: Ogura brought a Japanese rider back onto a MotoGP podium after 14 years.
The race also highlighted a difficult moment for the factory Ducati team. Marc Marquez did not take part in the Grand Prix after the injury he suffered in the Sprint, while Francesco Bagnaia crashed while still in the leading group. It was a heavy weekend for Borgo Panigale, on the very day Aprilia showed strength, depth and a level of competitiveness that now looks increasingly stable.
The Le Mans result is not just a victory: it is a technical and sporting statement. Aprilia is no longer the surprise team that takes advantage of favourable days, but a real force capable of placing three bikes ahead of everyone, with two factory riders fighting for the title and a satellite structure able to reach the podium. The RS-GP showed balance, pace and race management, confirming that the Noale project has entered a new dimension.
The finishing order clearly shows the scale of the achievement: Martin crossed the line ahead of Bezzecchi by 0.477 seconds, with Ogura third at 0.874. Behind them, Fabio Di Giannantonio finished ahead of Pedro Acosta, while Fabio Quartararo took sixth place ahead of Enea Bastianini, Raul Fernandez, Fermin Aldeguer and Luca Marini.
Le Mans will therefore remain a historic date for Aprilia. Not only because of the triple podium, but because of the message sent to the championship: the Noale manufacturer can now win consistently, manage an internal battle at the highest level and look at the world title fight without any sense of inferiority. MotoGP 2026 has found a new dominant force, and today that force speaks Italian.
