It’s now official: Jorge Martin and Aprilia will continue working together in 2026. The announcement came directly from the Spanish rider during the pre-Czech GP press conference at the Brno circuit. This long-awaited confirmation definitively puts an end to the controversy that erupted at the end of May, when Martin declared his intention to leave at the end of the season.
“I’ll say it clearly: I will continue with Aprilia in 2026,” Jorge declared to journalists. “These have been six or seven difficult months, during which I suffered a lot, given the injuries. But now I’m here, I’m well, and I’m happy with this choice.”
His words mark the end of a turbulent period, during which his relationship with the Noale team seemed strained. After winning the MotoGP world title in 2024, Martin expressed doubts about the solidity of the Aprilia project, so much so that he threatened an early departure. The team, for its part, had repeatedly reiterated the validity of the contract until 2026.
Today, however, everything has changed. The Spaniard speaks of “recovered confidence” and describes the RS-GP as “a bike that works and can still grow.” Spanish sources such as Cadena SER have also confirmed that the decision to stay stems from a technical and personal evaluation: Martin feels an integral part of the Aprilia project and has preferred stability to the temptation of a move elsewhere.
The return to the track in Brno thus coincides with a new phase: Jorge wants to leave behind difficult months, marked by physical problems and transfer rumors, to return to being an absolute protagonist in the World Championship. The renewal represents a guarantee for Aprilia and a strong signal to his rivals: the number 89 is not only staying, but is ready to fight to confirm his position as the best.
