Tadej Pogacar is simply unbeatable. After yesterday’s triumph in Hautacam, the Slovenian also dominated the 13th stage of the 2025 Tour de France, an uphill time trial from Loudenvielle to Peyragudes. He finished in a clear 23:00, opening up significant gaps to all his direct rivals and putting a serious hold on the final yellow jersey.
A cannibalistic performance
Despite the fatigue of the previous stage and the bruises sustained in the crash two days ago, Pogacar tackled the time trial with ferocity. He was already ahead at the two intermediate stages, but on the toughest section he gave it his all, carving out the decisive gap. Behind him, only Jonas Vingegaard limited the damage (+36″), but was overtaken at the finish line after catching and passing a sharply declining Remco Evenepoel.
Third place on the stage went to Primoz Roglic, 1’20” behind, who put in an excellent performance that allowed him to move up in the overall standings. A solid Florian Lipowitz finished fourth, confirming his position as one of the Tour’s revelations, while Luke Plapp, Matteo Jorgenson, Oscar Onley, and Adam Yates rounded out the top eight.
Evenepoel’s collapse
Remco Evenepoel was the big loser of the day. Starting strong, he gradually faded, and suffered the sporting humiliation of being overtaken by Vingegaard in the final meters. He finished behind, and now the podium is also in jeopardy for the Belgian, who is losing contact with the leaders.
Standings after Stage 13
With this victory—his fourth in this Tour, the twenty-first of his career at the Grande Boucle—Pogacar strengthens his lead in the overall standings. He now holds a more than four-minute lead over Vingegaard, while Evenepoel slips even further back.
