MotoGP Mugello 2025: the story from the drivers’ conference between hopes, challenges and great returns
The Italian Grand Prix weekend officially began with the traditional Thursday press conference, hosted as always in the heart of the Mugello paddock. Many topics were addressed by the protagonists, starting with an excited Marco Bezzecchi who, at his first Italian GP with Aprilia, declared: “Maybe we found something in the tests, but we have to verify it here. The bike is improving, I’m excited”.
Bezzecchi shared the enthusiasm for the new experience, while Marc Marquez, leader of the World Championship, recalled a dramatic moment from three years ago: “In this same conference I announced that I was going to America after breaking my arm again. Today, after that dark period, I’m here playing for the title. I’ve already won the most important challenge”.
Bagnaia, winner of the last three editions of the Italian GP, underlined the importance of doing well in front of the home crowd: “If I’m not competitive here either, it means there’s a problem. But Mugello is special, I’ll give it my all to keep up with Marc”.
Pedro Acosta, always lucid and concrete, reiterated the need to improve traction rather than focus on top speed: “Our goal is to stay as close as possible to the podium”.
The conference was also an opportunity to comment on Toprak Razgatlioglu’s move to MotoGP in 2026 with Pramac: for all riders, from respect for his ability to attention on the difficult adaptation from Pirelli to Michelin tires.
Among the technical topics, Bagnaia spoke about the possibility of using 340 mm brake discs instead of 355 mm: “Here they are less necessary, it could help us not to repeat problems from the past”. Marquez instead reiterated the importance of Saturday for Sprint and qualifying, but “Sunday remains the real test”.
There was no shortage of news from the market and the grid: Lorenzo Savadori will also be in the pits in place of Jorge Martin, still out, while Takaaki Nakagami will take the place of the injured Luca Marini in Honda.
With a 32-point advantage over Alex Marquez and 93 over Bagnaia, Marc Marquez is also the favorite at Mugello. But the Tuscan circuit, with its magic and its 15 legendary curves, is ready to write a new chapter.

Il weekend del Gran Premio d’Italia è ufficialmente iniziato con la tradizionale conferenza stampa del giovedì, ospitata come sempre nel cuore del paddock del Mugello. Tanti i temi affrontati dai protagonisti, a cominciare da un carico Marco Bezzecchi che, al suo primo GP italiano con Aprilia, ha dichiarato: “Forse abbiamo trovato qualcosa nei test, ma dobbiamo verificarlo qui. La moto migliora, sono carico”.
Bezzecchi ha condiviso l’entusiasmo per la nuova esperienza, mentre Marc Marquez, leader del Mondiale, ha ricordato un momento drammatico di tre anni fa: “In questa stessa conferenza annunciai che andavo in America dopo essermi rotto ancora il braccio. Oggi, dopo quel periodo buio, sono qui a giocarmi il titolo. La sfida più importante l’ho già vinta”.
Bagnaia, vincitore delle ultime tre edizioni del GP d’Italia, ha sottolineato l’importanza di fare bene davanti al pubblico di casa: “Se non sarò competitivo nemmeno qui, significa che c’è un problema. Ma il Mugello è speciale, darò tutto per tenere il passo di Marc”.
Pedro Acosta, sempre lucido e concreto, ha ribadito la necessità di migliorare la trazione più che concentrarsi sulla velocità di punta: “Il nostro obiettivo è restare il più vicino possibile al podio”.
La conferenza è stata anche occasione per commentare il passaggio di Toprak Razgatlioglu in MotoGP nel 2026 con Pramac: per tutti i piloti, dal rispetto per la sua abilità all’attenzione sul difficile adattamento da gomme Pirelli a Michelin.
Tra i temi tecnici, Bagnaia ha parlato della possibilità di usare dischi freno da 340 mm invece dei 355 mm: “Qui sono meno necessari, potrebbe aiutarci a non ripetere problemi del passato”. Marquez ha invece ribadito l’importanza del sabato per Sprint e qualifiche, ma “la domenica resta il vero banco di prova”.
Non sono mancate novità dal mercato e dalla griglia: ai box ci sarà anche Lorenzo Savadori al posto di Jorge Martin, ancora out, mentre Takaaki Nakagami prenderà il posto dell’infortunato Luca Marini in Honda.
Con 32 punti di vantaggio su Alex Marquez e 93 su Bagnaia, Marc Marquez si presenta come favorito anche al Mugello. Ma il circuito toscano, con la sua magia e le sue 15 curve leggendarie, è pronto a scrivere un nuovo capitolo.
