Marco Bezzecchi is smiling again on the track, and he’s doing so in the sweetest possible way: with a winning overtake on Raul Fernandez that has handed him a deeply meaningful victory. The Italian rider, fresh from a difficult spell caused by an injury that kept him out of racing, spoke to the press about the build-up to his decisive move, admitting he had taken a calculated risk in his bid to secure victory.

“Actually, I wanted to give it a go at turn 10, but he was incredibly fast there,” explained Bezzecchi, revealing how his original plan to attack Raul Fernandez had fallen through due to the Spaniard’s speed at that point on the track. The rider from Rimini therefore had to change his strategy during the race, finding another opportunity to complete the overtake and go on to claim victory.

A victory that comes at a crucial stage of the season, with the championship becoming an increasingly uphill struggle for Bezzecchi. The rider himself made no secret of the reality of the situation: “At this stage, the world title is more likely to be lost than won,” he stated candidly, aware that the gap he has fallen behind due to races missed through injury is now weighing on his world title ambitions. Despite this rather discouraging outlook, Bezzecchi was quick to add that he has no intention of throwing in the towel: “But I won’t give up until the very end,” he assured, sending a message of determination to fans and rivals alike.

The most moving part of the team rider’s comments concerns his recovery from the injury that kept him sidelined for several races. Bezzecchi revealed that the idea of winning again had been with him right from the very first days of his convalescence: “I’ve been thinking about this victory ever since the first day in hospital after the injury,” he confessed, emphasising how this success represents not only a sporting achievement, but also the culmination of a long period of mental and physical work to get back to the top.

The victory over Raúl Fernández therefore carries significance that goes beyond the points in the standings: it demonstrates that Bezzecchi, despite the difficulties, has never lost faith in his own abilities. The world championship may be mathematically out of reach, but the Italian rider’s fighting spirit remains undiminished, and the upcoming races will reveal whether this renewed energy can translate into further highlights this season.

Meanwhile, MotoGP can enjoy seeing one of its most beloved stars back performing at the very highest level, putting on a spectacular show and producing superb overtakes such as the one that decided the race against Raúl Fernández. This is an important sign ahead of the season finale, when every point scored could make all the difference to the championship standings.
