The spectacle is ready to return, and you simply can’t afford to miss it. After two editions that captivated fans, riders, and international media alike, Red Bull Genova Cerro Abajo confirms its place for the third consecutive year in the world’s most spectacular and demanding urban downhill circuit. This time, the event moves to the first half of the year, taking place on June 27-28, 2026.

To kick off the summer in style, this is a live show you won’t want to miss. Mark your calendar now and let your friends know that weekend is already booked.

Following the huge success of the 2024 and 2025 editions, “La Superba” has become one of the most eagerly anticipated stops on the international calendar. Its unique urban landscape creates a sporting spectacle unlike any other, featuring a breathtaking 2.2-kilometer course with 279 meters of vertical drop, running from Monte Peralto to Largo della Zecca in a dizzying race through natural obstacles, centuries-old staircases, hairpin turns, and specially designed features integrated into Genoa’s iconic creuze and caruggi.

The numbers from previous editions speak for themselves. In both 2024 and 2025, approximately 35,000 to 40,000 spectators lined the course throughout race day, while hundreds of thousands of viewers watched the live and delayed broadcasts on Red Bull TV. It was a collective celebration amplified by coverage from major national and international sports and mainstream media outlets.

The challenge has been thrown down to Tomáš Slavík and Roger Vieira, winners of the 2024 and 2025 editions respectively. Both riders will return for a third consecutive appearance with ambitions of victory, but they will face an increasingly competitive field determined to dethrone them.

Italian riders are also ready to fight for glory, led by Lucas Vega, a local Ligurian favorite who will enjoy tremendous support from the home crowd. Unfortunately sidelined by a recent injury is Hannes Alber, a finalist in the 2025 edition and a consistent top-15 performer in the Red Bull Cerro Abajo series.

A glimpse of what awaits in Genoa was already seen in mid-February at Valparaíso, the opening round of the 2026 Red Bull Cerro Abajo season. On a particularly slippery course that caused several top riders to make costly mistakes—including Roger Vieira, Bernard Kerr, and Alex Rudeau—Sebastian Holguín dominated from qualifying through to the final run, finishing ahead of Adrien Loron and Felipe Agurto, who were separated by just 2.29 seconds. For Italy, notable performances came from Hannes Alber and Chris Hauser, both of whom successfully qualified.

“The return of Red Bull Cerro Abajo confirms Genoa’s ability to host international sporting events that uniquely enhance the city’s identity,” said Genoa Mayor Silvia Salis. “The course winding through creuze, caruggi, stairways, and iconic viewpoints tells the story of a vertical and spectacular Genoa, capable of transforming its urban characteristics into a powerful sporting, tourism, and media attraction. We are ready for a third edition that will further strengthen an event of international significance and reinforce the inseparable bond between sport, city promotion, and public participation.”

The organizing team is already working hard to deliver a 2026 edition whose excitement, as tradition dictates, will extend far beyond the race itself and energize the entire city. Once again, the event will be free to attend, welcoming everyone—from dedicated cycling fans to curious newcomers. Spectators will have the opportunity to experience the intensity of the competition up close from designated viewing areas along the course.

Everything is set for another unforgettable chapter of Red Bull Genova Cerro Abajo, where world-class riders, historic streets, and passionate fans come together to create one of the most spectacular urban downhill events on the planet.
