VARESE, October 24, 2025 – Pallacanestro Varese is pleased to announce the signing of Ikenna “Ike” Iroegbu, an American point guard with Nigerian citizenship, born in 1995, who will wear the Openjobmetis jersey until the end of the season.
An experienced and athletic player, Iroegbu is known for his quickness and his ability to make an impact both in transition and against set defenses. With an excellent first step and high-level ball-handling skills, he loves attacking the rim on offense while providing intensity, grit, and unpredictability on defense.

Career
Born on March 14, 1995, Iroegbu developed his game at Washington State University, quickly attracting attention from several NBA franchises. He began his professional career with the Los Angeles Clippers, who assigned him to their G-League affiliate, the Agua Caliente Clippers, where he averaged 12.2 points, 4 rebounds, and 3.8 assists per game.
His European journey includes stints in Germany (Science City Jena), Lithuania (Lietkabelis Panevėžys), France (Rouen and Chalon), Israel (Hapoel Galil Elyon), and Italy (Treviso Basket 2022-23), where he averaged 16.4 points per game while shooting 49.2% from two and 42.2% from three.
In recent seasons, he played in Spain for Girona and Valencia, winning the 2025 ACB Supercup against Real Madrid and making his EuroLeague debut with the latter.
With the Nigerian national team, Iroegbu won the silver medal at AfroBasket 2017, where he was one of the tournament’s standout players, averaging nearly 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists per game and earning a spot in the All-Tournament Team.
